Editor’s note

Samsung's second Ultra watch fixes the complaint that followed the first one around: bulk. The grade 4 titanium case is now 10.7mm thick rather than 12.1mm, and although the 47.4mm footprint is unchanged, losing that height makes a real difference to how it sits under a cuff.

The screen is the standout. A 1.52-inch Super AMOLED running 498 x 498 at up to 5000 nits is brighter than most phones, which sounds like a specification arms race until you use it in direct summer sun on a run and can actually read your pace. Sapphire crystal over the top and a 10ATM rating with EN13319 dive certification mean it is genuinely rated for water rather than just splash-resistant.

Battery is the practical upgrade. The 800mAh silicon-carbon cell is quoted at around 80 hours with the always-on display disabled, so this is a watch you charge twice a week rather than nightly. Charging is wireless at 10W, and there is 64GB of storage for offline music, which is more than most people will fill.

The caveats are the usual Wear OS ones. Turn the always-on display on, add LTE and GPS workouts, and that 80-hour figure contracts sharply. It is also a large watch — on a slim wrist a 47.4mm titanium case looks like what it is, and the smaller Watch9 exists for a reason. Full health features remain tied to Samsung's ecosystem and work best with a Galaxy phone.

Buy it if you swim, dive, hike or run outdoors and want a rugged Android watch with a screen you can read anywhere and multi-day endurance. Skip it if you have small wrists, use an iPhone, or mostly want notifications and step counting, where a cheaper and lighter watch will serve you better.

How the VS Score works — and what it can’t tell you

Every measurable spec is scored against the average of all the smartwatches we track: matching the class average scores 50, clearly beating it climbs towards 100, and each spec counts according to an editorial weight that reflects real-world impact — a battery-capacity gap moves the score far more than a colour-options list. The quality bars on the spec cards above show where this model sits inside the full range for its class, and the overall VS Score rolls every weighted result into one number.

Unknown values are never estimated. A spec this product doesn’t report simply drops out of its scoring — it isn’t penalised with a guess — but a thinner spec sheet does mean a score built on fewer data points, which is why completeness is disclosed under About this data.

Most importantly: a spec-sheet lead is not the same as a better product. Megapixels, gigahertz and benchmark points describe capacity, not experience — image processing, software optimisation, thermals, haptics and ergonomics decide how a device actually feels, and no table captures reliability or long-term support quality. Treat the VS Score as a structured summary of what can be measured, not a substitute for your own priorities.

About this data

  • Specifications are compiled from each manufacturer’s official spec sheet, cross-checked against trusted specification databases, and normalised into one schema so identical things are compared identically.
  • Specifications last verified July 30, 2026.
  • Data completeness: 29 of the 32 specs in this category are verified (91%). Anything we could not verify is shown as Unknown — never estimated — and is excluded from the score.
  • Prices and availability come from live retailer feeds via our shopping partners and refresh throughout the day; a missing price means no partner currently lists the product, not that it is discontinued.
  • Want the full picture? Our editorial guidelines explain how we research products, weight the scores and stay independent.
