Editor’s note
Dell killed the XPS name, then brought it back — and the 2026 XPS 14 is the result. This entry configuration uses Intel's Panther Lake Core Ultra 5 325, an 8-core chip, with 16GB of LPDDR5X and a 4TB SSD in a 1.36kg CNC-machined aluminium body 14.62mm thick.
The design decisions are mostly good ones. The 14-inch 1920×1200 panel runs at 120Hz with full sRGB coverage and an anti-glare finish, and the 16:10 aspect ratio gives useful vertical space. The 70Wh battery is large for the size, and charging runs at 100W over USB-C. A 3.7MP webcam with IR for Windows Hello is a real step up from the 1080p norm, and Wi-Fi 7 with Bluetooth 6 is as current as laptops get. Dell also dropped the capacitive touch function row that irritated owners of the previous generation.
The compromises are ones you have to plan around. There are three USB-C ports and nothing else — no USB-A, no HDMI, no SD card reader — so a dongle or dock is part of the purchase. Memory is soldered, so 16GB is permanent. Graphics are Intel's integrated Xe3, fine for video editing timelines and light 3D but not for gaming. And the Core Ultra 5 325 is the base chip in a range that runs up to a Core Ultra X9 388H, so this configuration is the value end of a premium machine rather than a fast one.
Buy it if you want a genuinely premium, light 14-inch Windows laptop with a good screen and battery, and you already work off USB-C. Skip it if you need legacy ports without adapters, upgradeable RAM, or real GPU performance.
