- Excellent big-screen MacBook Air for everyday work, but ports are still limited
I’ve been using the Apple MacBook Air 15-inch with the M5 chip mainly for daily productivity, writing, browsing, video calls, photo edits, and light creative work. Overall, it feels like one of the best balanced laptops Apple has made for people who want a larger screen without moving to a heavier MacBook Pro.
The 15-inch display makes a bigger difference than I expected. It gives enough room for split-screen work, research, emails, and documents without feeling cramped, while the laptop still stays thin and easy to carry. Performance has also been very smooth. Apps open quickly, multitasking feels effortless, and the M5 chip handles everyday work without the laptop getting loud or hot, which is great because the Air keeps its fanless design.
Battery life has been another strong point. I can get through a normal workday with browsing, documents, streaming, and calls without constantly reaching for the charger. The keyboard and trackpad are excellent, as usual for a MacBook, and the improved webcam is useful for video meetings.
That said, it is not perfect. The biggest downside is still the limited port selection. Having only two Thunderbolt ports means I sometimes need a hub for accessories, external drives, or multiple displays. The screen is very good, but users coming from a MacBook Pro may miss a higher refresh rate and mini-LED contrast. Also, Apple’s upgrade prices for more memory or storage can make the laptop expensive quickly.
For students, remote workers, writers, and everyday users who want a big, quiet, reliable MacBook, the MacBook Air 15-inch M5 is easy to recommend. It is not the best choice for heavy video editing, 3D work, or people who need many ports, but for most daily use, it feels fast, polished, and comfortable.
