Editor’s note
Samsung's first Ultra-branded foldable is also its thinnest: 4.1 mm unfolded and 215 g, which is genuinely noticeable next to earlier Folds. The 8-inch main panel is nearly square at 2,504 x 2,256, and that shape matters more than the diagonal — it suits two full-width apps side by side, PDFs and long articles far better than a widescreen tablet would.
The camera hardware is split. A 200 MP main sensor with HDR in full-resolution mode and a new 50 MP ultra-wide are real upgrades, and the 8K APV codec plus Cine LUT give video editors something to work with. The 10 MP 3x telephoto and both 10 MP selfie cameras, though, are carried over and feel thin at this level — if you shoot a lot at distance, a conventional Ultra slab still does it better.
Two things deserve attention before you commit. There is no S Pen support, which is an odd omission on a device wearing the Ultra name. And the IP48 rating covers 1.5 m of fresh water but only blocks solid particles down to 1 mm — Samsung explicitly advises against beach and pool use, so fine sand and dust remain a real risk for a hinged device.
Battery life should be comfortable rather than exceptional: 5,000 mAh typical (4,854 rated), with Samsung quoting up to 27 hours of video playback and 67% in about half an hour from a 45 W adapter that is sold separately. Competent charging, not class-leading.
It makes most sense if you actually work on your phone — DeX, split-view multitasking, heavy reading, or mobile video production — and intend to keep it, since security updates run to July 2033. Skip it if you want a stylus, spend time in dusty or sandy environments, lean on zoom photography, or simply don't want to carry 215 g that is 8.9 mm thick folded.
