Editor’s note

The EliteBook X G1i is HP's premium business ultraportable, and it makes a strong case on weight alone: 1.18kg in an aluminium body that tapers to 10.5mm at the front. It runs Intel's Core Ultra 5 226V, a Lunar Lake chip whose 48 TOPS NPU makes it a full Copilot+ PC, with 16GB of LPDDR5X and a 2TB SSD.

The details show where the money went. The 14-inch 1920×1200 anti-glare IPS panel covers 100% sRGB in a 16:10 ratio. There are four microphones — a genuine advantage for conference calls in a noisy room — plus a 3.7MP webcam with IR for Windows Hello and a fingerprint reader. Connectivity is right up to date with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and there are three USB-C ports with Thunderbolt alongside a USB-A and HDMI, so you are not entirely dongle-dependent. A 68Wh battery with 100W charging is generous for the size.

The limits follow from the platform and the class. Lunar Lake packages its memory with the processor, so 16GB is soldered and final. Graphics are integrated Intel Arc 130V — good for a thin machine, not a GPU for rendering or games. There is no Ethernet and no SD card reader, so a dock is needed for wired networking. The panel is 60Hz. And business laptops carry a price premium for manageability features that a home user will never touch.

Buy it if you travel constantly, take a lot of calls, and want a light premium machine with vPro-class manageability and long battery life. Skip it if you need more than 16GB, want discrete graphics or built-in Ethernet, or are buying for personal use — a consumer ultrabook gives you similar hardware for less.

How the VS Score works — and what it can’t tell you

Every measurable spec is scored against the average of all the laptops we track: matching the class average scores 50, clearly beating it climbs towards 100, and each spec counts according to an editorial weight that reflects real-world impact — a battery-capacity gap moves the score far more than a colour-options list. The quality bars on the spec cards above show where this model sits inside the full range for its class, and the overall VS Score rolls every weighted result into one number.

Unknown values are never estimated. A spec this product doesn’t report simply drops out of its scoring — it isn’t penalised with a guess — but a thinner spec sheet does mean a score built on fewer data points, which is why completeness is disclosed under About this data.

Most importantly: a spec-sheet lead is not the same as a better product. Megapixels, gigahertz and benchmark points describe capacity, not experience — image processing, software optimisation, thermals, haptics and ergonomics decide how a device actually feels, and no table captures reliability or long-term support quality. Treat the VS Score as a structured summary of what can be measured, not a substitute for your own priorities.

About this data

  • Specifications are compiled from each manufacturer’s official spec sheet, cross-checked against trusted specification databases, and normalised into one schema so identical things are compared identically.
  • Specifications last verified July 27, 2026.
  • Data completeness: 50 of the 53 specs in this category are verified (94%). Anything we could not verify is shown as Unknown — never estimated — and is excluded from the score.
  • Prices and availability come from live retailer feeds via our shopping partners and refresh throughout the day; a missing price means no partner currently lists the product, not that it is discontinued.
  • Want the full picture? Our editorial guidelines explain how we research products, weight the scores and stay independent.
